WiVision Wi-Fi®/ Cellular Phone Locationing for the Financial Industry

The use of Wi-Fi devices and cellular phones in areas where they are banned represents a significant compliance and security threat for Investment Banks, on trading floors and in other sensitive areas of the Financial Industry.

The WiVision Enterprise Wireless Threat Management platform is capable of detecting and accurately locating all cell phones and Wi-Fi devices inside buildings to an accuracy of 2 - 5 meters. Because AirPatrol’s technology is able to function without decoding any of the data transmitted by the cellular phone it does not infringe the wiretap regulations prevalent in many jurisdictions. AirPatrol’s WiVision cellular phone detection technology is the only technology capable of detecting a cell phone when it beacons a cellular tower (which all cell phones do every 15 – 30 minutes), which enables cell phones to be detected before a call is made. The WiVision system is also the only technology capable of detecting all SMS messages sent by a cell phone.

AirPatrol is the industry leader in the detection and location of Wi-Fi devices. The WiVision Enterprise platform accurately shows both the location of all detected devices and the Wi-Fi devices to which they are connected, with all devices identified by their MAC address. If the detected laptop or wireless VOIP phone is registered with the organization, the name of the registered user is also shown.

AirPatrol’s WiVision technology utilizes a revolutionary combination Wi-Fi / Cellular phone sensor that is installed throughout the facility to be monitored and is connected to the WiVision Enterprise Platform using a conventional wired or wireless Ethernet network.

The WiVision Wireless / Cell sensor detects all Wi-Fi devices and all cellular devices on all bands worldwide. The sensor includes two Ethernet interfaces with "Power over Ethernet" (PoE), which enables it to share existing network infrastructure and eliminates the requirement to install additional cabling and provision additional switch ports, dramatically reducing the complexity and cost of deployment.
